Building & Maintenance

About the Programme

Get your hands dirty and see physical results from your work. There is no need to have a construction background. The building programme is open to all volunteers wanting to put hands on and experience building, renovating or maintaining schools and health facilities. You will work alongside the team of builders and carpenters. Our projects aim to alleviate poverty by improving access to schools, health care and clean water to educate next generations.
Recently we have finished building a clinic for HIV pregnant women at the biggest hospital in Kabarole district - Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital (333 beds, serving a population of 469,326) with our local team and a other volunteers. It was a big project and proved that One Brick and its professionally trained builders can undertake big building projects.
Whatever skills and talents you have, volunteering on building projects in Fort Portal offers a rewarding combination of the new, exciting, and life-changing, as well as the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Experience local life also outside of building site while supporting development.
